CINCINNATI -- Ahead of Wednesday’s game vs. the Cubs, the Reds were able to get the band back together.
\n\nMoustakas and Senzel had been out since Sunday, when they both reported not feeling well and entered the COVID-19 protocol. Moustakas went on the injured list, but Senzel did not. Both players tested negative for the coronavirus but were not cleared to play until a few hours before the game.\n\nSeveral Reds acknowledged that they missed Moustakas’ leadership, which he's provided immediately in his first season with the club.\n\n“He plays hard. He plays to win. It starts there, and he’s a good player,” Bell said. “When you put those three things together and you have teammates that respect you and listen to you and watch you really close because they have that respect ... and then you add in the fact that he has a great personality -- he’s outgoing, he’s not afraid to speak up -- it’s just a great combination.”\n\nAs

He grazed the leg of Cubs hitter Anthony Rizzo with a pitch and didn’t like how Rizzo didn’t try to avoid being hit.\n\nAfter the third out, Gray was chirping at Rizzo as he walked off the field.
\n\n“I think that was just some competitors competing, but yes, I definitely wanted to try to ignite something,” Gray said. “I definitely wanted everyone to know that we’re here to play tonight. We’re not just going to sit back and just get our butts kicked.\"\n\nGray struck out 11 batters over 6 2/3 innings while allowing two unearned runs and just one hit, on Ian Happ’s two-out double to left-center field in the fifth. He took a shutout into the seventh inning, but following a leadoff walk, a one-out throwing error by Suárez opened the door to trouble.
